Introduction

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of marine hazards with a focus on collision, grounding, and flooding—three of the most critical risks affecting vessel safety and maritime operations. Participants will gain practical knowledge of preventive strategies, navigational best practices, regulatory requirements, and emergency response techniques. The course blends theory with real-world case studies and scenario-based exercises to strengthen decision-making, situational awareness, and damage-control competencies essential for safe shipboard operations.

Objective

Upon the successful completion of this course, each participant will get knowledge about:

  • Develop a deeper understanding of the causes and consequences of collision, grounding, and flooding incidents.
  • Strengthen the ability to apply effective prevention strategies through improved navigation, planning, and situational awareness.
  • Enhance practical skills in emergency response, damage assessment, and control measures to minimize risks and potential losses.
  • Improve operational readiness by reinforcing compliance with international maritime regulations and safety management systems.
  • Build crew confidence and coordination through case studies, team exercises, and real-scenario learning
Audience
  • Deck officers and navigators
